Valentine’s Day Flower Delivery

Valentine’s Day is the day that celebrates love. Though many holidays involve gift giving to loved ones, Valentine’s Day holds the distinction of being the only holiday devoted strictly to love.

Though the exact origin of Valentine’s Day is unknown, there are several legends as to how it began. Most of the legends arise out of ancient Roman and Christian traditions. One legend says that a priest by the name of Valentine may have sent the first valentine greeting from jail. He was in love with the jailer’s daughter and supposedly sent her a greeting that was signed “From your Valentine.” Another legend says that Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the day of the death of a priest named Valentine. Supposedly, this priest performed marriages to young couples even though marriage was outlawed at the time by Roman Emperor Claudius II. The priest was discovered one day and sentenced to death. Though Valentine’s Day may have started with priests in the Catholic Church, it is celebrated worldwide today.

Valentine’s Day is most commonly celebrated by couples who are in love with each other. Celebrations of Valentine’s Day can range from a weekend vacation, to an evening at home, to a candlelit dinner at a classy restaurant. Usually the holiday is celebrated with a combination of giving gifts and spending a romantic evening together. One of the most common gifts given on Valentine’s Day is flowers. Of all flowers, the red rose is by far the most popular Valentine’s flower. It has long been a symbol of romantic love.

Valentine’s Day flowers are almost always presented by to the recipient in person and generally during the course of a romantic evening. Most often it is the man who gives flowers to the woman, while the woman is more likely to present the man with a gift other than flowers. There are sometimes situations where the giver cannot present the flowers in person. Local and online florists can help in these situations by providing delivery to almost anywhere in the world.

Valentine’s Day flower delivery is most popular in situations involving a secret admirer. Often, when the admirer desires to remain anonymous, flower delivery is used. Most florists can provide prompt delivery almost anywhere. There are also times when situations arise and couples cannot be together on Valentine’s Day. In these situations, flower delivery can be helpful. Even if the sender cannot be there to personally present the flowers, the flowers will still be a reminder to the recipient of the love they share.

Many florists who offer delivery allow you the opportunity to customize your Valentine’s Day flower bouquet or arrangement by picking the flowers, adding a certain type of flower to an already prepared arrangement, or adding a small gift, such as chocolates to go with the flowers. In cases where the flowers are being delivered for Valentine’s Day, the flowers will generally arrive in a vase or basket. Decorative ribbons may also be used to accent the arrangement.
